What do the ColorView lenses look like?
They look like mirrored sunglasses (see below).

At what age would you start wearing colour corrective spectacles?
ColorView lenses enable the educating of colours from childhood, developing early colour discrimination and acceptance from peers. Colourblind Sight Centre's youngest wearer is 5 years old.
Will I have to re-educate my colours?
There is a certain re-education as the filter coatings shift the colour spectrum. Some familiar colours change, and new colours become visible.
Can ColorView specs be worn as sunglasses?
Yes, they make an ideal sunglass. The lenses are 100% UV blocking. They can also be worn inside/at night but they will require adequate lighting. The density of tint depends on the type of colour deficiency you have.
Can I have my prescription and the ColorView specs?
A range of frames is offered that have magnetic clip-ons. All prescription lenses can be fitted to the selected frame, with the ColorView lenses fitted to the matching clip-on. We have found this offers better versatility as the ColorView clip can be taken on and off. And if a spectacle prescription change is necessary in the future the ColorView lens clip can be reused 'as is'.
Can I drive with these lenses?
General feedback from patients wearing ColorView lenses is that they feel safer and more comfortable when they are able to discriminate road signs/car headlights more easily. However, ColorView Technologies do state they are not recommended for driving, especially at night.
Can these ColorView lenses be worn to pass medicals in colour tests for various industries?
Not to our knowledge. You would need to seek that information from the relevant official departments.
Will they be coming out in contact lenses?
The difficulty with this is that the ColorView lenses use very precise antireflection and mirror coats to fine-tune the manipulation of light to achieve the best colour vision. These coatings can not be applied to contact lenses. However, ColorView tells us they have a contact lens under trial in the United States by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration). No time-frame has been given as to if or when Australia and NZ could be marketing these lenses.
From time of order, when can I have my new ColorView specs?
Colour correcting orders can normally be delivered within 10 working days.
Priority orders can be arranged.
How much do the lenses cost?
We are trying to hold the price at $1600.00 NZ dollars. They can fluctuate with the NZ exchange rate.
